Project 1: Aim a 10% increase in the pass rate at GCE OL at a selected school in the Battaramulla Area.
Steps:
- Donate a Math Lab through Candle Aid to the school - Approx. Rs. 70,000
- Conduct a Math Teaching seminar for the teachers – Approx Rs. 10,000
- Deploy a Math awareness program among the students in Grades 8 to GCE OL – Rs. 15,000
- Provide math learning aids (past papers, practice exercises etc.) – Rs. 30,000
- Offer an examination preparation/revision program for OL students – Rs. 15,000
- Miscellaneous expenses Rs. 20,000
- Total cost Rs. 150,000
Project 2: Assist 30 needy students in their education activities (one per club member)
Steps:
- Select 30 needs students (eg. Ananda Balika MV) who are good at their education
- Aim to provide approximately Rs. 1,000 worth of Money/material per student per month
- 50% to be donated by a member and the balance 50% from the club (we can do a fund raiser for this component)
- Total cost 30X1000X12 = 360,000, Club contribution 180,000
- We can get an outside organisation such as CandleAid to administer the program
