Description
The Rotary Club of Colombo North was Charted 29th of November 1967. RCCN is proud to be a pioneer of several activities in the Country. It takes the lead in many activities including conducting the polio and Dengue eradication programmes, fostering and facilitating the aesthetic values of youth in the country through the Inter –School Shakespeare Drama Competition and the project for the Home of Compassion for elderly , to name a few. Other groundbreaking projects of the RCCN include Awareness Programme in the village of Maillagammana in Rabewa on Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) and Clean water Consumption , setting up of a fully equipped computer laboratory and a Library at the Walikada Prison complex and many Interact and Rotaract programmes that will generate the interest of youth to serve the community by becoming members of RCCN. This programme is presently concentrated on three school , namely Wesley College, Carrey College and Arethusa College. Another resounding success was “ Junior Speech Crafters “ training programme conducted at wesley college , to promote public speaking skills of youngsters for which the RCCN received the best district award and citation for the Year 2010/11.
